About SABA

The Southern Adirondack Beekeepers Association, SABA, has been active for over 40 years and currently has about 400 members spread across nine counties.  SABA offers monthly meetings, beekeeping classes for "newbies," an annual all-day seminar, members involved in community outreach, and award-winning booths at the Saratoga and Washington County Fairs.

Our club is located in eastern New York and most of our members live and keep bees in the Southern Adirondack region of the Capital District.  Counties served by SABA include Albany, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren, and Washington.

Our Mission

  • To educate beekeepers about current trends in all aspects of beekeeping.
  • To educate the public about the use of bees for pollination of crops and for their byproducts (honey, wax, and pollen).
  • To maintain awareness of all state and national laws related to beekeeping and the production and marketing of honey and wax.
  • To aid in the development of programs for young people desiring to become beekeepers.
  • To present education programs in schools and for the general public.
  • To serve as a resource in the community for addressing problems and concerns about honeybees, and how honeybees differ from other stinging insects.
  • To foster interactions with the agricultural community and other beekeeping organizations.
