Beekeeping Classes 2024
Beekeeping Classes for 2024
SABA will be offering Beekeeping Classes for beginner beekeepers in 2024.
Beginner Beekeeping Class
is designed for new beekeepers and those wanting a refresher. It will be a five-week course covering The Bee Yard and Basic Equipment, Obtaining and Installing Your Bees, Honey Bee Biology, Working Your Hives, Seasonal Activities, Common Problems and Solutions, and Harvesting Your Honey.
The first class will be live at the Milton Community Center, Ballston Spa, NY. The subsequent classes will be virtual via Zoom. Classes begin January 25, 2024, and conclude on February 22, 2024, with suggested reading done prior to each class. The cost will be $25.00 and is open to all active members. You must be logged in as an active member to register. If your membership has expired, you must renew your membership before registering for the class.
Classes are based on the books "Backyard Beekeeping" by Kim Flotum and "Beekeeping for Dummies" by Howland Blackiston and will be purchased by the students. It is not necessary to purchase both books, they will be used as a reference.
After registering, you will receive a welcome email with a complete syllabus and the Zoom class schedule.
The classes will be held weekly on Thursdays at 7:00 pm.
Specific sign-in details for each Zoom call will be sent to all participants one week before each interactive session.
